Below are links to view a current selection of my prints.

In the main I produce either figure compositions or still-lifes - mainly of flowers since this suits the bright, strong colours that I like to use. The prints are all created using the multiple block technique and in the main I restrict any overprinting only to those areas where the overprinted colour corresponds precisely to the colour I wish to create.

This means that the separate blocks [as many as 14 or 15] have to be printed sequentially and with very precise registration to achieve the final image. As this is a necessarily time-consuming process to construct and print all of the separate blocks, I tend to produce editions in slightly higher numbers than the usual 15-20 common with linocut prints. Accordingly, most of my linocut editions are printed in editions of 45 with occasional editions of fewer number than this, but with none of greater number. All of these works I print on Arches 88 Waterleaf paper using my 1870 Albion press.

In addition to multiple blocks, I will use shaded or toned colours to create increased depth and three-dimensionality to my prints and look always to create new colour and design combinations to create a consistent variety within the whole of my work.

In essence, most of my work can be seen to reflect the Japanese woodcut printmaking technique known as Ukiyo-e, but used within a specifically Western context in the same manner as that used by various Post-Impressionist artists such as Van Gogh and Gauguin. The production of my prints is necessarily a much slower and more deliberate process than that adopted by most linocut printmakers, however rather than allowing myself to be restricted by the perceived limitations of the medium I prefer always to seek new means to develop and expand the medium to cater for the vision and ideas that I wish to express.
